A weekly music party for 0 – 5 year olds to ROCK OUT with parents and care-givers!

We explore singing, dancing, percussion, mindfulness and self-expression.

With nearly 15 years of teaching experience & a love of working in early years, Razz packs a tonne of fun into this unique and fresh class, playing diverse & sophisticated tunes.

At the Wednesday morning classes in Castlemaine, you are warmly welcomed to stay for a cuppa & a bickie after class. This is entirely optional☕️😻

You only need to buy tickets for kids, adults are free.

You are welcome to bring a partner or grandparents too.

If you’re bringing an older sibling, bubs under 1 year are free!

If you have a child in primary school with a curriculum day, they are welcome to tag along for free also. They may even enjoy it😉

Breast feeding welcome🙌🏽

ALL FAMILIES ARE WELCOME🏳️‍🌈

WHAT MAKES MY CLASSES UNIQUE?

It’s all about having FUN with music! Meanwhile children are learning so much without even realising it.

You will always be warmly welcomed, even if you are running late. I know how tricky it can be to get out the door with little ones in tow.

My classes have a very relaxed feel. I don’t mind if toddlers wander or babies crawl about. Children under 5 cannot focus deeply for long periods of time.

If your little one is getting ‘hangry’, take them to the side & have a lil’ snack & some water or a breast feed, then come back.

Children in my classes are preparing for primary school without being ensconced in a format too strict for their stage of development. They are learning social skills; sharing, helping & teaching, along with structural understanding; ‘this happens, then we pack up, then we dance, then we have quiet time’ etc. Maths & language skills are at the forefront, along with the musical skills of pitch, rhythm & amplification.

The music is fresh & diverse – I choose music I love, & I love a lot of different styles of music; pop, punk, rock, country, blue-grass, jazz, drum n’ bass, electro, glitch, post-punk, & traditional music from all around the world.

I know that even tiny babies can appreciate sophisticated music, because even the most complex tune will have a pulse & that is all small children need to engage. I don’t use nursery rhymes, although I think they have an important place in children’s music appreciation, I believe there are plenty of places to access them elsewhere; at rhyme-time, on TV etc.

I choose much of our repertoire from music which has just been released, while every now & then I will bring out a golden oldie! (That could be anything from 50 years old to 2 years old).

I want to LOVE the music I’m playing & I want both the kids & adults to love it too!

We often learn to sing songs in other languages, opening kids’ sponge-like brains to different sounds. This can be helpful when learning other languages later in life.

DO CLASSES WORK WITH CHILDREN AT SUCH VARYING STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT?

YES! It is fantastic to have kids aged 0-5 in a class together. Each child can join in according to their level of development. The younger children love to watch & try to copy the older ones. Even a tiny baby sleeping in a pram is taking in some of the energy in the room. Children under 18 months often bop along to the tunes & love the excitement. Older kids are more able to play the percussion & learn dance moves & lyrics.
